I have been going to this place for years. When I first started going there it was good food with good service. Gradually the service began to get worse and worse. Tonight (21Dec2010) the experience was so horrible that I will never go back to that place again. First of all we sat there most of the night with our drinks empty and when I asked the waitress if we could get another drink she was extremely rude. In fact she has rude the entire night, especially when I was upset because we had been waiting for our food for an hour and a half. The service had been getting worse and worse but due to this night there will be no second chances for this establishment.

Unfortunately, Faraz is no longer here. The last time this happened, Tandoor went south. When he came back it improved drastically. Unless Faraz returns, no dice here.

This restaurant averages around 11 to 15 dollar entrees and 7 to 8 dollar appetizers. For the the price of the food, it was just not worth it. When I asked the waitress to explain the special, she was sarcastic and rude. She also was not very helpful to my friend's questions about certain entrees. I mean come on, Indian food varies from region to region. When we got the food there was not a good balance of ingredients and liquid. The flavor was too strong the combination of the spices were too heavy (and I do not mean spicy). I have had Indian food before in the United Stated, in fact, it was all had eaten when I was in the UK. There are good Indian restaurants out there, just not at Tandoor.

I love eating here. I have always been extremely satisfied with the food and the service. What is going on though? It's been closed down for "renovations" for over a month now. I haven't seen anything going on inside either. Need my Indian food fix now. Am tired of driving by and not seeing the OPEN light on. Get with it or you'll lose a valuable, hungry customer who, in the past, has given this place rave reviews to her friends.

I have never had a bad meal here - I've never even had a mediocre meal here. Even the lunch buffet is outstanding, and the owner, who is present almost every time I've been in, makes sure that everything tastes great and that there isn't anything that you need.

Great naan, and the lamb curry is pretty awesome. Even the water here tastes good!

This is the best place for anyone who wanna taste fantastic Indian food. The food was wonderful, tasty and the service has exceeded my expectations. I had recommended this restaurant to all my colleagues and friends; the ones who visited it had the same experience that I do and had thanked me for recommending Tandoor.

We went there for the lunch buffet and came away disappointed. They would not cook anything from the menu, it was buffet only. Does that mean the lunch chef is just microwaving the food that the dinner chef cooked ahead? The naan, while fresh, was a little too crispy for our taste. It should be soft and puffy. Also brushed with too much ghee on top. We found whole, cooked cardamom pods in nearly every dish. I don't like spitting out food while eating. They should leave the seeds in and discard the pods. We got there at 1:30, and they didn't put out any fresh chicken tikka masala, which is our favorite dish, even though they were open for another half hour and the tray was empty. The channa masala seemed old and soggy. On the plus side, the tandoori chicken was very tasty, as was the kheer. The dal was also good, and so was the saag (except for the whole cardamoms.) We'll try again at dinner to see if this was just a lunchtime aberration.

Excellent service and great food. This is now my favorite place for Indian food, whether it's the lunch buffet or eating dinner. If you're having difficulties figuring out which type of naan to order, consider a combination -- they'll do requests. The staff also is great for giving recommendations. Mango custard on the lunch buffet was unexpected but delicious.

Food and service was great. I have been to this place before and the food had gone downhill under the previous owner. The new owners (Faraz & one other guy) brought the old chef back and he is just as good as ever. New owners seem to be doing a great job and the food can't be beat. We'll be back

I think this restaurant changed hands this spring. Went in recently and found the food to be fantastic, very attentive and informed service and one of the owners (I think his name is Faraz) is always there and is happy to explain the food. I will be back.

I first read about Tandoor in Des Moines' "Date Book", and they gave it 4 stars. However, after dining there with my fiance I think they should have received 5 stars. The owner and the staff were absolutely wonderful they made us feel like royalty and catered to all our needs. The cuisine at Tandoor is second to none... wonderful, colorful and tasty dishes made us true fans of this establishment; I highly reccomend this to anyone who is a skeptic of indian and pakistani cuisine. Trust me, you wont be dissapointed.

I had a good experience at Tandoor this last week! The food was tasty and I would definitely go back and order from the menu rather than eating the buffet. I had one great dish with garbanzo beans and a different one with chicken and wonderful spices. Try it!

**Stay away from this place**. We went in on a Sunday afternoon for the lunch buffet. What a horrible experience it was.
We were not seated, to begin with. No waiter turned up for 10 mins. Finally, we had to call someone out. Absolutely no selection in the buffet, both in terms of quality and quantity. Asked for a refill of the empty trays and it never happened. We were not served rotis and when asked about it, the reply from the waiter was "I forgot". Subsequent replies were "So what", "Big Deal" etc. It came to a point where we had to just stop our harrowing experience. No complaint was even registered as the waiters said that the owner is not available and I need to wait to talk to him. Waiters also mentioned that they are customers themselves and did not care Why run a restuarant, anyway!!

***STAY AWAY***
