Have been to Biaggi's several times and have never had an unsatisfactory meal. This is the place my daughter chooses to have her Birthday dinner at...loves the lasagna!
Chain Italian. That says it all.
Some of the best Italian food in the Des Moines area. The service has always been good and the ambiance is fantastic. The food is good in all ways, price, selection, and quality. Their chicken marsala is excellent and is probably the best I have had in all of the Italian places in town.
A good restaurant - tasty food but we (4 people in my party)all thought they serve really big portion including salad. I had to take more than 1/2 of my eggplant parmesan home with me.
Wish they had a coat check or hanger, because seat in a booth is a bit short for 2 parsons plus 2 winter coats and a handbag.
I think the restaurant is very quiet even with the music compare to other italian restaurants.
A fire place & darker wall paint added nice atmosphere.
Do I come back? - Yes :)
As far as chain restaurants go, this one is very good. They manage to combine good food, reasonable prices, and quality service - which is always a good thing. I have been here a number of times and I can't remember a dish that I did not like - they are usually great tasting with an appealing visual presentation. The service is quick and competent. I can recommend it for pretty much any occasion.
I have to Biaggi's many times, each time has been very pleasant experience. Staff has been very professional and the food is excellent! I have yet to have a meal that doesn't taste good, they always hit the mark.
One of the better Italian restaurants in town.
Remember to save room for White Chocolate Bread Pudding!
Love the place. Has food for everyone. the kids menu is great and real cheap on price.
Grandkds love the place
My husband took me to Biaggi's for my birthday dinner this year. It was wonderful! The calamari was great and the Lamb Porterhouse is to die for. The server was extremely attentive although we waited a little longer for our food to arrive than I would have liked. But she was very apologetic and, all in all, did a great job. Again, I highly recomend the Lamb Porterhouse with Esspresso and Herb rub.
Been here a couple of times. This is a decent restraunt. I'd say the ambiance exceeds the food. Typical Italian fair (nothing extraordinary) in a nice looking restraunt. Prices comparable to similar restraunts.
I feel it's only fair that I update my last review of this restaurant. I was so irritated with my experience, I felt the need to let the restaurant know what happened. The manager personally called my house and apologized, and invited us back out this week. The food was some of the best I've had, and I honestly feel that they have redeemed themselves. Hopefully my last experience was a fluke, and when we return (which we plan to soon), the food and service will be as great as it was last night.
Our first clue should have been the nearly empty parking lot. And as the hostess sat us down and told us they wouldn't be serving any alcohol, we were caught off-guard and just said that was fine. Later we hear they lost their liquor license for the month of January for failing an ID checking test. Okay, that's alright, I guess I don't NEED a glass of wine with my Italian. But that wasn't the only disappointment of the night. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallop Cannelloni, it was horrible. The waitress was never around, and considering she only had 3 tables, there really was no excuse. The dessert we ordered (I was hungry since I only ate 2 bites of my entree) was supposed to be a warm chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake came cold, and the ice cream was freezer-burnt. All in all, we felt that our experience should have been outstanding to make up for the inconvenience of the lack of beverage options. But unfortunately, it seems that Biaggi's had just given up.
Had a large christmas gathering, they handled it superbly. The food was terrific, some of the best I've had in a long time. Try the chicken parmesan or breaded pork chops. It would have been a 5* if it had been a little bit cheaper.
My first 2 experiences were nothing to write home about. The food was decent, but nothing memorable. However, this Friday was so memorable.
Knowing it was going to be busy, I was super excited to know Biaggis took reservations. However, they were having a silent auction for breast cancer, so between 5:30-8:30 no one could have reservations. No problem. We arrived at 6:45 and when I went to put my name in the hostess asked if I had reservations. I explained that I was told I could not have reservations and how annoyed I now was because that wasn't the case and the wait was 1hour and 20minutes. While I watched people with reservations get seated, 2hours passed and we were still seated in the lobby. The hostess was the opposite of friendly, did not apologize or give any explanation and really left a terrible impression in my mind.
Once we got seated, the server apologized for the confusion and wait. As for the food: Again, it was decent. They do have wonderful desserts and the portions are huge, but I would rather have a little of a great meal than a lot of an okay meal.
My thing with Biaggis is that the food is so-so, but not worth the wait or price.
Biaggi's offers a great setting for a romantic and peaceful dinner. The eggplant is a must! Give it a try!
This place is pretty decent- especially for being a chain. I have alway's had i good time there. Obviously, much more authentic Italian food is to be had in some of our local Des Moines restaurants, but this place gets the job done. It's Americanized Italian food, like the OG, but a thousand times tastier. It's a little on the pricey end, if you ask me.
favorite chain restaurant.
Best steak salad in town
Be prepared to pay $1 for refills on lemonade.
Their gourmet mediterranean pizza is fabulous, under $9, and easily enough for 2+ meals.
Try the Beet and Arugula Salad - almost a meal in itself.
