DSMDiner
byI was a solo diner here and seemed to get treated like a low ticket customer. Walking in willing to spend $30 on myself I received cold service. When I first walked in no one greeted me or said hello. I stood there perplexed exchanging cold stares with a full staff. I then ask, "do I seat myself?" I was then told I do in fact seat myself. The server did not once ever stand at the edge of my table. She always stood a good 4 feet away and to the far right. I have no idea why, but I am not an intimidating person whatsoever. I also asked for recommendations and told her I would probably be just taking my time since it was my first visit and wanted to try all I could. She had no recommendations for me so I had a small dinner salad. It was a good average italian restaurant salad. I then got the toasted ravioli. Those were good as well, although there was grease dripping off of the basket lining. Then my server got 2 more tables. She all of the sudden livened up at the sight of a 4 top. I still got the cold, undesirable service she had given me the whole time with the awkward 4 foot away stance and no smile although hearing her give an ounce of personality to the other tables. She slides my ticket face down, and doesn't even say thank you or have a great day! I understand I had a small ticket total but chances are 1 tops always tip 20% or even more. My total was only $7.61 and I left her $10. $1.52 would've been 20% but she got $2.39. Any server with any experience would know a 1 top is a good chance of 20% tip. When I left I see 2 staff members chowing down at the bar and no one says good bye or thank you. I then walk out to their foyer area which is covered in cigarette butts and a lot of kids cups stacked in an ash tray. I didn't notice it on my way in because I was excited to try out somewhere new, but after my cold service I recieved I was more able to notice their flaws and not be as forgiving. I will make it back to try the pizza but definitely order it as a carry out.
