We love going here - the price is right, and never packed. All but 5% of the movies coming out aren't worth the $8 to see them opening weekend... with a little patience, we'll wait to see them when they come to the Nova.

Though Nova is not a "fancy" theater, the low cost trumps the need for "fancy". Where else can you get two tickets, two fountain drinks (w/ free refills), & a large bag of popcorn for less than $20?!...I don't know of anywhere in the DSM area other than Nova that is reasonable & plays new release movies for that I have to give the cinema a decent rating. Not to mention when you snag the mentioned two tickets, large popcorn, & two fountain drinks (doesn't get better than this) for only $11 through Groupon! I personally enjoy Nova as it is not overly packed or over priced. I have to stick up for the owners of the cinema a bit here...a reviewer wrote the comment 'you get what you pay for'...while true...it's also a given that a low budget theater isn't going to be the "Ritz-Carlton" of theaters. Since I my expectations were realistic to that of a lower budget cinema, I rate the place four stars. I couldn't give a perfect five since I'm not sure if the cinema is still open?! There seems to be no way to figure that out for sure if the cinema is still in business other than the fact that the cinema has been closed for about two weeks?!...therefore assuming it's not. Thus the four star rating due to the lack of detail regarding the sudden lengthy closure of the cinema. Maybe the awesome value was too good to allow the cinema to stay in business...

Why Isn't it convenient to watch a movie here? We showed up Thursday May 17th and it was not open. Showed up today May 21 and it was not still open. Bought tickets online and they do not honor it via smartphone coupon. Told us to leave and bring the Paper copy back to get in. What a joke of a theater. Don't waste your time driving out here.

Very outdated theatre. You get what you pay for. Don't buy your popcorn or pop until you are sure the movie can play. There systems are very outdated and management is poor. Our movie sound didn't work. We received no announcement from management just left there in the movie theatre. We all headed out to the lobby to find a manager that was not apologetic frazzled and very unprofessional. Refunded only our ticket price and we were left to eat our popcorn and pop in the parking lot. What a joke! Pay the extra money and go to a decent theatre. With todays economy not very many families can go to a movie and what a disappointment if they spend $20.00 on popcorn and pop and the movie doesn't work!

I am definately down with the pricing sence we get the senior discount at 55. But the earlier writer is correct is stating that the sound is sometimes crackling or too loud or to soft. I would like a little improvement but hold the prices, catch 22. Good Luck Nova,

PS: I actually liked the way it use to be which was cheaper yet but the movies were released 2-3 months ago.

I absolutely love the premise of this theater. $5 gets you a ticket (to a 2nd round movie), small popcorn and small pop.

I wasn’t expecting anything fancy…I can deal with the older style row-seating and the outdated look, the cramped, cluster-filled lobby, but what I can’t deal with at a movie theater is when the acoustics are off. And not just off, but speakers were blown. In addition to the annoying crackling, hallow sound, the volume control was really loud at first, then really soft and eventually half way through the movie they got it right.

And maybe it was just that particular room we were in. So, all in all, fix the sound and I’ll be back.
