Have eaten here three times - once during normal hours and twice after the bar. The first time I ate here it was OK - I ordered three tacos, one pastor, one carne azada, and one chorizo. All were average, nowhere near as good as Tacos Marianas, and service was very slow. Chips were stale and salsa was average at best. I did like that they had a salsa verde. Second time I went was about the same. This last time was atrocious. It took 15 minutes to get drinks, and 30 (not joking) to get our orders placed. We were just about to get up and leave. Our food then took some time, to get to us, although it wasn't completely unreasonable. I again had tacos, which were OK. Friends ordered flautas, which were extremely dry and flavorless. Definitely won't be going back.

Like the Olympic Flame, Los Laureles is not often heard of by people in town but the food is OUTSTANDING. The atmosphere iis just fine and they just remodeled it. Honestly, the best authentic Mexican food in town!

By far the best Mexican food anywhere in central Iowa. The food is not only authentic and delicious, but reasonably priced and the service is friendly and fast. Do not go there expecting anything in the way of fancy decor, but do look forward to delicious homemade suaces and entrees and a very wide selection of soups, seafoods and traditional Mexican favorites.

Homemade salsa is awesome, very fresh and flavorful! If you're looking for something a little spicy, the tomatillo salsa is where it's at.
