Johnny's Italian Steakhouse

Our party of 3 recently visited Johnny's Italian Steakhouse in West Des Moines on a Wednesday night. This was our first visit and we were all very impressed. The menu was great, offering a wide choice of meals and prices. Delivered to us was an outstanding veal dish named Veal Sinatra, a wonderful and perfectly cooked filet mignon and an exceptional lasagna. We topped the meal off by sharing two deserts, a somewhat disappointing chocolate lava cake and a wonderful grand marnier chocolate mouse. On the plus side we would list great food, fair prices and a nice atmosphere. Only the service kept us from rating this experience a 5. Our waiter was not particularly friendly or attentive but we witnessed great service being given to other tables. We look forward to returning.

This is reviewing the new Johnny's near Jordan Creek. The food was fantastic. My wife and I went to Johnny's for our anniversary and I can find nothing bad to say at all about this place. The bread was delicious, the caesar salad was huge, and the steak I got was nothing short of fantastic! I ordered the parmesan crusted steak and crab stuffed shrimp. The steak was cooked exactly how I wanted it and the crab stuffed shrimp was excellent. My wife ordered the normal lasagna and was also impressed. I look forward to going back again to try some of the other items on the menu.

We have eaten at the south side location and were very impressed with the food and service. Last night we ate at the new location and it was packed. I had made reservation for 6:30 and at the last minute had to change them to 7 because of an incident that could not be avoided. They were very accomodating. We even arrived about 5 minutes late and were seated in less then 10 minutes. The service was a little spotty, but we expected that since it had only been open for a short time. The dining room manager was a real bright spot of the evening. Very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we were happy with everything. All and all a very pleasant evening. Food was very good. I love their spinach salad. Prices were fair. We will definitely eat there again soon.

Good food, but horrible service both times we were there. We must not have looked like big enough tippers or something. The waiter was filling our glasses while talking to the table across from us, didn't mutter a word to us until he took our order and then again we he gave us our check. The 2nd time we got the same guy, same problem and he was rude when he did talk. I won't go back unless I have to...

Excellent food. I have not yet been there for the breakfast buffet but I hear it is great also.
