We were there Saturday, February 11, 2012
Arrived at 6:30pm, were seated and promptly served drinks. Then it took a whole hour until the waiter took our dinner order, and dinner was not served until 8:15pm !!!!
The soup had too much pepper in it, the salmon was burnt and the angelhair pasta under the fish was barely lukewarm.
Definetly NOT a good experience and we will NOT visit this place again nor recommend it.

I just don't get the draw of this place. I had a very bad experience a couple years ago at Christopher's and decided to give it another shot.

My husband and I took our mothers to the mothers day brunch. The menu online looked very promising. However, the buffet was everything that is not good about buffets. Cold, dry and burnt. It was so disappointing, especially considering it was $22 a person. The labels or menu did not disclose what was in each dish which makes it annoying to someone with food allergies and a vegetarian. The saving grace was the service was polite and attentive. And the atmosphere is so drab and sad. I guess I just don't get it.

Service is always great. At least one member of the family that owns the place is always on hand. very friendly bar staff.
Prime rib is wonderful, steaks are always done just right, orange roughy very tasty, manicotti is great, lasagna was fabulous, Veal parmesan is one of my favorites. Homemade onions rings are fantastic, light and crispy.
Our family has been going here since 1972!
We have never been disappointed

Maybe my expectations were too high, but this place is not deserving of the classic-Des Moines-restaurant-you-have-to-eat-here hype. We started with mozzarella cheese sticks and onion rings. The cheese sticks were cool in the middle, which is not good for a fried food. The onion rings, however, were homemade and excellent. That said, I really do not expect onion rings to be the highlight of a meal.

The salad came swimming in dressing, but was otherwise good. The bread was okay. Here is the biggest disappointment--the spaghetti and meatballs was terrible. How do you mess up spaghetti and meatballs? The pasta had a spoiled egg flavor and the sauce was overspiced with something that does not belong in a marinara.

I cannot remember the name of the sandwich I ordered, something with an "S." It was sausage with roasted peppers, the icky marinara, and melted mozzarella on Italian bread. It was okay, but nothing to write on the Internet about.

Our server, on the other hand, was excellent. She apoligized repeatedly for us not liking the pasta, and even brought extra fries for my wife so she would not go hungry. Our trip was disappointing, and I cannot see us returning.

This place is good. Friendly owner & waitstaff. Hot blonde lady works the bar area.

Food ranges from decent to excellent. You kind of have to just try all kinds of things and find something that you love.

Drinks are good and moderately priced. Expect to smell like you soaked your clothes in wet cigarette butts, if you chill in the bar area.

Wes didn't lie the Rocky will defeat your hunger. The Italian from Philly is the Champ on the Pizza menu. Also love the bistecca.
