Stopped by the Americana for dinner while in Des Moines. Excellent wait staff. Enjoyed some of the more unique items on the menu. Loved the scallop lollipops!

Weird vibe from this restaurant from the beginning. Menu was very small and prices were ridiculous. Websites say $9-15 per entré but really that was for appetizers. Received the stankeye from our waitress after my date and I said we will not be having cocktails. After looking over the menu nothing sounded appealing to eat. Service was cold, def not friendly. Building was beautiful but really I think the restaurant's "motto" just says they are trying too hard to fit in being "swagger"...whatever that means. Food was not different than Buffalo wild wings or Culvers. I say take your money and save a little by eating somewhere else.

I like the space and the location, but the bartenders were cold. Lighten up guys. You don't have to be pretentious to be trendy. In fact, it's impossible. Don't try so hard. It's Des Moines. Love it.

I stopped in to check out Americana before their official "grand opening."

First of all, they have a lot of excellent cocktails. Skip the beer and take advantage of this!

The menu looks great, but they were obviously working out a couple kinks in the kitchen while we visited. Some of our party's dinners were awesome, some were pretty bland.

I love that they give the option of grilled pineapple slices as a side. So tasty.

Americana will definitely be a great addition to the Western Gateway area.

Artichoke hearts app is incredible. Get a group together and reserve the table facing Locust.

The giant mural of the cars is a photo taken in the same space as Americana. It was taken in 1937 when the space was a car dealership.

Soup was amazing but curry was a bit disappointing (too heavy sauce but no spice/flavor). Nice atmosphere, great service, will come back!

The hoisin BBQ is amazing, get a side with just about anything on the menu, especially if it has pineapple (or just spread on the grilled pineapple side)

Oscar de la Americana is fantastic. 8oz filet with crab meat, asparagus hash, Cheddar mashed potatoes and a brown butter holindaise sauce.

Upon first visit: food is great, but the dated frat-rock playing loud has to go!
