When my family and I visited the Ankeny diner, for the Sunday breakfast buffet. I witnessed one of the kitchen staff take food out of the buffet, with his bare hands. I then witnessed him eat the food! I found this to be utterly disgusting! I will not be returning.
The food was terrible, management was unfriendly.. I saw a cockroach & there was a band-aid in someones salad. yuck...
My wife and I have found this to be a great place for a burger. For around seven bucks you get a cooked to order burger with a side that could also be soup or salad. The entertainment book has a buy one get one free offer as well as most grocery store receipts that are printed on the back. Just a good deal that's hard to beat. (Skip the breakfast buffet though!)
The food was ok. The service was POOR. The management was about the most unfriendlyest management I've ever seen. WAit staff said they were unbearable to work with but needed a job. Would not recomend it at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what Jeremy considers to be old waitresses. There are several younger waitstaff too. We love the food - very typical diner style. Great hot beef sandwiches and good greasy spoon breakfast. Love it!
This is your typical diner - old fashioned, old women waiting tables, and good, crappy breakfast food.
It sort of smells like a hotel pool mixed with cigarette smoke (since it's attached to a Best Western), but if you're in the mood for a classic diner breakfast - this is the spot.
Ask to see the bearded cook, he is very handsome!
