This is probably the best Mexican restaurant in Des Moines area (or top 3). There are several things to like. For one, the menu is closer to authentic Mexican home cooking than to ever-present Tex-Mex. There are dishes with flavorful sauces (check out Chicken Poblano or Chicken Pipian) that go beyond the red vs. green and I have not seen cheddar used on any of the dishes. Additionally, the menu includes a set of healthier options for those who care about that. I think this is the first Mexican restaurant I have seen do that. The service is quick and friendly, the prices are comparable to most Mexican restaurants in town. Strongly recommend.

I've been looking for serious mole for years. I happened across this establishment, which was recommended by a friend, and was extremely pleased. I find this the most authentic of all the Mexican restaurants in the metro area. Love the sides of black beans, upon request, and coleslaw too. I also enjoy the option of selecting corn over flour tortillas. The staff has always been professional, polite, and friendly.
This place is a perfect combination of traditional food and a friendly wait staff. There hasn't been a time i've gone and been disapointed with their service. They are all commited to quality in food and service and will help you out the best they can.
Order anything - it's all good - and wash it down with an Original Margarita. It's more like a martini than a typical margarita. You may need a Designated Driver.
There has never been anything I ordered that I did not like. The original margaritas are the best in DES moines! The owners, two brothers, are great pepole.
This place is outstanding. As soon as I sat down I was greeted with chips, salsa and bean dip. Jorge works the bar and runs a tight ship!
The sopa de albondegas is awesome, arroz con pollo huge and the pacifiers amazingly hot. I could eat here multiple times weekly!!
Service is very, very good. Very impressive. Environment is comfortable and warm. Bar was packed. I won't return because the food was average.
What ever you eat must be washed down with an Original Margarita.
Carne Azada for lunch - fab!
Chicken carnitas are the best in town.
Margaritas are great. Service was good. Clean and cozy. But the food? Meh.
the Original Margarita. Served by Jorge!
Extremely friendly owners, family run restaurant, ask for the lil rascals!
Never had a bad meal. Very prompt and attentive service. Love the carnitas
